Mrs. Abbi Jones Pruitt, the founder and Clinical Director of Freedom Formula Rx & Private Practice for Black Girls LLC, located in Northwest Houston, is a native of Northeast Louisiana. Mrs. Jones Pruitt earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1999; Master of Science from Southern University A&M College, Baton Rouge Louisiana, in 2003; Master of Education, Counseling & Development from Lamar University, Beaumont Texas in 2009; and Master of Social Work from the University of Houston, Houston Texas in 2021; and is currently enrolled as a doctoral student for the Doctorate of Counselor Education. She is Board Certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NCC) #273254, with 20 years of experience in the mental health field. In addition to being trained as a psychotherapist, Mrs. Jones Pruitt has received specialty instruction and supervision in various modalities of treatment, to include, but are not limited to Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Crisis Response Planning, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.
Throughout her 20-year professional career, she has gained experience in conducting strength-based, culturally competent, therapeutic services in behavioral and mental health treatment and working with multidisciplinary groups of professionals. Her knowledge includes the understanding of biological, emotional, cognitive, and social determinates of behavior. She has applied this knowledge to provide strategies for understanding problems and identifying practical steps for implementing solutions. Mrs. Jones Pruitt is adept in using client-centered approaches while implementing Cognitive Behavioral - and Solution-Focused therapies to facilitate awareness and emotional growth amongst diverse populations based on individual needs and personality. Her experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults that struggle with symptoms such as depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, and PTSD amongst others. She dedicates countless hours of her time focused on mental health awareness and overall health and wellbeing.
In her spare time, Mrs. Jones Pruitt makes spending time with family, traveling, and practicing self-love her number one priority because for her, “It is my greatest form of self-care”.
